started here at the capri apartments and was here where three of the victims were. today we talked with one of the neighbors of those victims and their accused killer. >> at the capri apartments a door is boarded up. this where is authorities combed through a gruesome crime scene. >> booties and masks and why the face mask? >> he talk at length about this neighbors but did not want us to reveal hissite. he says two of the victims were eliot rodger's roommates, another a friend. >> they were really good kids, into quiet. extremely smart. >> investigator says rodger stabbed the three young men to death. they're identified as 20-year-old cheng hong from san jose, george chen, and 20-year-old weihan wang of fremont. in youtube posts, eliot rodger said this violent rampage was retribution for being treated

badly by women and getting pick on by the larger community. but his anybody tells us it was difficult to enter act with him. >> he describes him as a gentleman. of course. >> he never talked. to be a gentleman you have to say stuff. >> that neighbor tells us that eliot rodger lived at this complex for several months. he says he and other neighbors repeatedly tried to interact with him. sometimes with very little success. reporting live, abc7 news. here's the latest on the investigation. investigators believe eliot rodger shot and killed himself as officers chased him after the stabbings and shootings. in the vehicle, rodger had three legally purchased handguns and more than 400 rounds of unused ammo. rodger, sent out a manifesto on friday. "the los angeles times" reports his therapist called his mother

at 9:17 p.m., 13 minutes before the shootings began. right now, six people are in the hospital, two the serious condition, one in fair, and three in good condition. >> rodger wrote in this manifesto he was worried police would search his apartment and find ute what he was up to his family contacted authorities after viewing bizarre youtube videos he posted. they showed up on his door april 30th to ask if he was suicidal. rodger wrote i tactfully told them it was a misunderstanding and they left. if they had demanded to search my room that would have ended everything. for a few horrible seconds i thought it was all over. when they left, the biggest wave of relief swept over me. it was so scary. today, the santa barbara county sheriff talked about why authorities did not do a more thorough check on him. >> deputies from the sheriffs office contacted him. he explained to the deputies that it was a misunderstanding,

and that he was -- although he was having social problems he was able to convince them he was not at that point a danger to himself or anyone else. the sheriff said his officers were not aware of the videos, just a warning from his parents. rodger said the incident made him realize he needed to be extra careful to not let anyone become suspicious. he took down videos from youtube until his final video the night before the rampage. you can find developing updates through twitter,. oakland police are investigating after man was shot to death early this morning outside his apartment near fruitvale avenue and 580. he was shot during an argument after coming home just before 1:30. witnesses say the shooter sped off just before police arrived. the police said the victim was 30 years old. more protests in salinas over officer-involved shooting.

people march this morning saying their angry over the way police treat them. officers shot two men,, the police chief said in all three cases officers were protecting themselves and the public. protesters say they just want respect. >> we want justice. we want just too be served and done right. >> i think right now that the law enforcement is not being respectful of the community. >> the protest marched through the same intersection where people gathered wednesday night to protest the shooting of man tuesday. that night, the crowd threw bottles at police and paramedics trying to treat the man who had been shot that night. four people in the east bay were rushed to the hospital today with heat-related injuries. they were at concord pavilion for a concert. the temperature hit low 90s which affected concert goer who

droughts in california has increased the risk for fires and now some experts say it's

is bounding. winds from the northwest at 20-miles-an-hour and more temperatures. santa rosa, 88. napa, 81. a lot of 80s. novato, fair feel, concord, and livermore, where we saw 90s today. a beautiful view of the santa cruz beach and it hit 77 today. so tomorrow will be another nice day but we'll see some clouds return overnight. there will be warm again for the holiday, and then things start to turn around and you'll see much cooler weather on tuesday. so here's what is going on. this area of high pressure. this will hold steady and this will bring us the sunshine and warm temperatures again. then we'll start to see the clouds move in and the breeze kick in monday night into tuesday, and the temperatures will drop. so the forecast animation shows clouds and fog at the coast when you wake up tomorrow morning, but lots of sunshine once again. so, cooler at the coast, 60s here. warm inland, but with a slight sea breeze we could see temperatures hitting the 80s.
